Cartamundi wanted a sustainability report that goes beyond mere reporting. Together with Route 2030, they developed the Good Neighbor Report: a strategic, SDG-based, and storytelling-driven report that connects employees, partners, and communities and provides direction.

This ambition led to the collaboration with Route 2030 — a journey that began with an initial SDG materiality analysis in 2019 and culminated in a completely revamped, strategic, and inspiring sustainability report: the Good Neighbor Report.


From SDG materiality analysis to sustainability strategy: the path to a new kind of reporting

The first step was clarity. Together, we investigated which sustainability themes were truly material for Cartamundi. Through qualitative and quantitative research, we meticulously mapped out themes related to people, the environment, and governance.


This analysis formed the foundation for strategic choices in the years that followed. Route 2030 served as a sounding board, a mirror, and a substantive challenger: What is the impact of a global gaming company? Which ambitions align with Cartamundi's identity? How do you make sustainability tangible for employees, retailers, families, and local communities?

Gradually, a sustainability policy emerged that did not stand outside the company, but became interwoven with it.

When the time was ripe for a new way of reporting, Cartamundi opted for an innovative approach. Not a traditional CSR report, but a story that connects—with employees, partners, customers, and communities.


Route 2030 helped with three crucial links:

1. Structure and strategic clarity: We brought sustainability themes together in a framework that aligns with both the SDGs and the company's strategy. Not a list of actions, but a coherent vision.

2. Innovative format: The report had to be relevant to a wide range of target groups: employees, customers, retailers, investors, and communities. Therefore, an accessible, visual, and storytelling-driven format was chosen.

3. Impact as a common thread: It's not just what happens that counts, but what it achieves. The Good Neighbor Report explains how Cartamundi is achieving sustainable change in practice.
